  • CRUD with Angular-resource and WebApi

For my application framework I want to dynamically load asp.net mvc views and use angular to load the JSON data into these views. To accomplish this I made a proof of concept of a simple CRUD that uses angular-ui-router to load the views and angular-resource to load the data. Server side I use Asp.net MVC and the WebApi library. In this post I will explain step by step this method.

  • Build projects without reference in Visual Studio

In the Visual Studio project for The Monack Framework packages are loaded dynamically. With this architecture there are no references from the main project to the package project which causes the package project not to built when the main project is built. In this post I will explain how to make sure all projects are built, even if there is no reference to that project.

  • Self hosting WCF service

In this final post of my series about WCF I will show you how to make a WCF service available by hosting it in executable code. In the example I use a console application. In a real world situation this should be a windows service but for debugging purposes and since this is only a proof of concept I use a console app.

  • WCF service with Named Pipes

The nice thing of WCF is that you can easily switch connection methods. the only thing you need to change is some configuration and the type of the connection classes you’re using. All other code remains the same.

  • WCF service with TCP connection

In this fourth post of my series about creating and using a WCF service, I'll show you how to create a WCF service that accepts TCP connections. TCP should be faster than using the service over HTTP since there is less overhead, but a complete performance analysis is beyond the scope of this article.

  • Hosting a WCF service in IIS

In previous posts I described how to create a basic web service and connect to it without using a proxy generated by Visual Studio. The next step is to describe how to setup IIS to use WCF through Http and connect to it with a client.

  • Creating a WCF client

In my previous post I showed how to make a simple WCF service. In this post I will show you how to use this service without using a proxy. A proxy is used to connect to the service if you don't have access to the code of the service. Since we created the service ourselves it is sufficient to make a reference only.

  • Creating a basic service in WCF

For a project I did recently we were using devices that were connected with our server through a TCP connection. Every time we released a new version of the server software we had to restart the service which caused a disconnect event in all devices. Then, when the devices rebooted, they all try to connect at the same time, giving the service a hard time setting up all the connections.

  • Using Moq in a Visual Studio Test Project

In this article I will describe how to use the MOQ library in a basic test project in Visual studio 2012. Visual Studio provides a plain and simple way to make unit tests, but you cannot simply mock objects. Adding the Moq library makes live easier when you are building unit tests.

  • MonackFr project published on CodePlex

Last week I published The Monack Framework project to CodePlex. For now the code is just the core structure for managing the modules, the graphical interface is just functional.
